Would you let your child eat 11 teaspoons of sugar right now?

in Get Healthy!, Mommin' Life on 12/14/18

Seriously, would you let your kid walk in the kitchen right now and get the sugar bowl down to eat 11 teaspoons of sugar?!?  Um…no…or at least I wouldn’t.  I value my sanity and that seems like a great way to lose it in about 2 minutes! Well…that is exactly what you are doing if you let them (or you) drink a 12 ounce can of Mountain Dew.  WHAT?!?!  I had no clue…no clue at all that soda had this much sugar in it (not just Mountain Dew).  Did I know it was bad for you?  Absolutely.  Do I drink soda anymore? No.  Do I let my kids drink it? On occasion…like once a month.  Seriously though this is craziness.  Look at these images below.  The chart tells you how much is in one 12 ounce can.  It also tells you how much acid is in a soda…and um holy Pepsi!  I’ll have a side of battery acid too.  Yikes.  The picture shows you how much sugar you would be consuming if you drink 1 bottle a day for 1 week.  I’m all for moderation…so maybe one a week would be a good compromise if you really enjoy any of these drinks. I like a real coffee about once a week or every few weeks for a treat!  I try to follow the 80/20 Rule…(which you can read more about right here if you would like. 80/20 Rule).  If you’re looking for ways to get healthy in the new year…I would strongly consider cutting back or eliminating soda or other sweet drinks as a good place to start!
