I have seen pictures of seriously hundreds of gallery walls on Pinterest and blogs and everywhere else. I LOVE THEM! So when we built our house a few years ago, I had picked out the wall mine would be on before we even had concrete poured, much less walls up. I decided on this funky wall in our entry way that is basically the center of our home. It points into the living room and has the kitchen and dining room on the opposite side of it. As I said, I love gallery walls….but I also love symmetry and things have to have balance (I am an accountant after all…). So for me to be happy with the collection of items I needed balance all the way around….size, texture, color, etc. You get the picture. 😉
I went down to the basement (where everything had landed after the move) and brought up random decorations and pictures that I liked. I started laying things out on the floor and within about 10 minutes my sister and I had this collection ready. The hardest part was convincing my husband to put this many holes in our new walls. Actually, I didn’t convince him…for most of this project and all projects for that matter that involve hanging, he used command hooks. These handy little pieces of Velcro hold up nearly anything! Then, I put this super cute little table underneath it (I bought off Facebook’s fabulous Buy/Sell/Trade for $100), added a couple pics and viola! FYI…all of these pieces either came from Gordmans, a yard sale, or were hand made by someone local! I love it and hope you do too!
Then because I loved this one so much…I added another mini-gallery over our couch! I found this “shelf” at St. Louis Vintage Days. It was rusty metal at the time…a little spray paint brought it right back to life. I then found all the other goodies at Hobby Lobby and I think it all mixed in well with the HUGE vent cover that was smack dab in the middle of my main living room wall. Its not perfect…but cute-ish and I love it!
And…as it turns out my friends are just as crazy about gallery walls as I am! Check them out too!
