As I’ve said before we built our forever home about 3 years ago and I have spent a good chunk of the last 3 years getting the decor just as I like it! These are some of my favorite, more unusual decorating ideas/pieces! There are a few affiliate links here.
1) Corbels
Joanna Gaines introduced me to these beauties! I didn’t even know they existed! I found these at the St. Louis Vintage Days Market last year and immediately knew they were what I had been looking for…for THREE YEARS! I had known I wanted them but couldn’t find any that were perfect. These are so imperfect and I fell in love with the character! Dusty wasn’t super impressed with how not perfectly level they were but made them work for me!

2) Striped Wall
I had found this on Pinterest while we were building and knew I had the perfect corner to have some stripes! My sister and I used a laser level and a whole lot of painter’s tape to get this created! I was pretty impressed with how straight our lines turned out! Its bold…but I love it! And, it is the perfect backdrop to our Christmas tree each year!
3) Metal Shelf
This unique piece was a rusty mess when I found it at a prior year’s St. Louis Vintage Days Market! If you haven’t made it to this yet…you should! My friend and I have found some super cute stuff both of the two years now that we’ve been going. I just spray painted it and turned it into a shelf! Really different and a huge focal point!
4)Laundry Room Counter Top
My entire laundry room is so different than any other part of our home! Its bright blue and red…not my norm as far as decorating style. I decided if I had to be doing laundry at least I could be doing it in a bright and cheery room! I figured if I was having crazy colors, I needed an out of the ordinary counter top as well. This one is made to look kind of like a piece of wood or stone or something that reminds me of natural elements…was super reasonably priced and was the perfect way to complete the room. Um…yeah the room isn’t complete actually. I have a big plan for a really fun back splash as soon as my husband has a minute to spare…so stay tuned for that! 😉
5) Kitchen Wall Hanger
I LOVE THIS THING! And…I equally love the story behind it! About six months after we moved in, Dusty was asking if I’ve seen an Amazon package. I tell him that I have not. The next day…same thing with the same answer. He is patiently (actually very impatiently) awaiting some kind of hunting toy. I don’t remember what now….probably didn’t know what then either. Anyway about day #3, he is pumped to see a box when we pull up. He jumps out and grabs it and brings it inside to be quickly super disappointed. Him: Ugh, why didn’t you tell me you ordered something too? Me: Because I didn’t. He pulls out this gorgeous thing (which is huge by the way…probably 2 1/2 feet tall and 2 feet wide) and I instantly fall in love with it! Long story short…after a lot of brainstorming as to who sent me this awesome present and tracking of his hunting thingamajig, we discover that Amazon had accidentally sent us this instead of his hunting thing! AND…told me I could keep it for free! Man…I love Amazon! If you think this would look great in your house too…you can find it here!
