This was an absolute staple growing up in Marquand. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess very few of the town’s people haven’t tried this tasty dish…church dinners, school banquets, birthday parties, funerals, and any other potluck definitely had this on the menu! So easy and can be altered to your taste. Hope you all love how easy it is!
(Feeds a family of 4)
1 lb Hamburger
1 Head of Lettuce
1 Package of Shredded Cheese
1 or 2 Tomatoes
1 Bag of Fritos
1 Jar of Fat Free Catalina Dressing
Anything else you want to throw on it!
Time to Prepare: 15 Minutes
This is seriously the easiest recipe ever! It is not something you want to make in advance…if you’re taking it somewhere, be ready to actually throw it together there. At my house we all make our own salad with our own toppings so we don’t ever actually combine it in one big bowl but you can.
Brown your burger (we actually use deer or elk burger as a healthier alternative to beef). Drain/rinse the meat (one of my favorite go to healthy tips) and set to the side to cool.
Cut lettuce into desired size (we like shredded). Cut vegetables into small pieces.
Combine all desired ingredients (with lettuce being the largest amount obviously) and use as much Catalina as you like…I prefer to toss it around in the bowl so everything is covered in dressing lightly!
